Sosis Bandari (Port sausages)

One of the most delicious and favourite fast foods that you can get from sandwich shops in Iran is called sosis bandari. Bandar means port and bandari means from the port. Originally sosis bandari comes from Southern cities of Iran around the Persian Gulf and it is very hot and spicy.
Sosis bandari is a popular dish between young and old. It can be served as breakfast or dinner and can be served with flat breads (Lavash bread, Pita bread) or budget bread.
300 g sausages, cut into bites
2 large potatoes, boiled, peeled and cubed
2 medium onions, peeled, chopped into chunks
4 Tbsp tomato paste
Salt – black pepper powder
1 Tsp turmeric

Fry tomato paste in a pan with 1Tbsp oil for 1 minute. Add 1/3 cup of water to the tomato paste and stir well. Set aside.
Heat the oil in a pan, add chopped onions and saute until tender. Give a quick stir to all spices ( sosis bandari should be hot, so add black pepper powder as much as you like). Add fried spices to the onions. Fry sausages for 10 minutes. Then add fried sausages and chopped potatoes to the onions Pour tomato sauce over the mixture. Stir well. Cover the pot and let it cook over low heat for 10-15 minutes. Serve it with bread.
